Rounding things out are a decent attack stat and the Defend command, making them durable little fellows as well. If you find yourself needing more healing power though, an Oroboros metamorphosed into Flouroboros is the way to go. It learns a whole bag of healing tricks as it levels including one capable of reviving your party if they fall in battle.
Reaching the final stage of metamorphosis caps this off by giving it some powerful elemental attacks to compliment its healing abilities. Swaine: Kipper — Believe it or not, Swaine has few if any choices for healing familiars in the families he has affinity for! Kipper is a good all-around choice if you decide you want Swaine to be able to heal because of the variety of healing tricks it learns.
Marcassin: Relixx — Almost the complete opposite of Swaine, Marcassin has plenty of familiars available to him for healing purposes but joins your party with one of the best in tow!
Relixx learns a large number of healing and support tricks as it grows and has solid all-around stat growth. More important than anything else when preparing a party to tackle the final set of challenges is that you are able to use your party properly. Since the familiars all share HP with their human character, the familiars can heal themselves in a pinch while they're out which will benefit Oliver.
Tiael posted Yeah, but it uses more mana than switching back to Oliver and having him heal himself. Doesn't take much extra time, either. User Info: Nemhy. Oliver doesn't learn party healing spells and familiars can. User Info: EgHeadFool. Healing familiars learn much better spells later.
They will get party-wide heals heal all allies and they will get better heal more HP. Even for single-target heals, Familiars can learn full-heals Oliver learns this but much later in the game. Also, a few Familiars can learn a revive spell on top of healing. Even all that aside, dropping a healer Familiar on Swaine will let him heal much better.
Either way, the higher ping argument is no excuse for this bug existing as familiars healing through potion lock is a bug. Responding to your last sentence, a bug is a bug and just because a bug is helping even 30k stat players clear a boss that is intended for people much stronger should be reported.
