Why do people ship gale and madge

Not that she has brought the medicine, surely. That's what nettles me. It's the implication that there's something going on between Gale and Madge. And I don't like it. She and Gale could have made a fantastic match for one another and in a different life, maybe hung out together with Katniss and Peeta. It might come as something of a surprise but a lot of people actually like the idea of Gale and Cato getting together. Odds are, they would have torn each other apart. Some people just like the idea of finding out which of them would win in a fight, but there are others who like the idea of them thrown together, especially because they like the idea of seeing their actors together.

It would have been interesting to see what might have happened had Gale wound up getting reaped instead of Peeta and seeing how Cato and Gale would fare face-to-face. Fans really like the idea of pairing Gale with the career tributes from the first book and film. Glimmer is another example of that. Considering her obsession with Cato, it's possible that she could use Gale as a way to get over Cato -- it's a common thread in the fanfiction about the pair.

That said, Glimmer has an undeniable cruel streak. In the early days, that isn't present in Gale but then when you think about who he became in Mockingjay, it becomes a little more realistic. As we've already mentioned about both Cato and Glimmer, fans love picturing what life would be like if Gale was reaped, or if the circumstances of The Hunger Games universe were different and he crossed paths with Glimmer in a different setting altogether. Clove was very vicious in the series, but one has to wonder what she would be like if the games never existed.
